About Us

  • We are a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to providing high-quality in-person middle and high school classes for homeschooling families north of Boston. We run the school year, from September through May, and meet on the beautiful campus of Gordon College in Wenham, MA.

  • We at Core Homeschool Learning believe that the world is a good and interesting place, full of possibilities and things to learn.

We believe that families are essential and desire the best for their children and that society flourishes when families are supported.

We believe that students are loveable and capable. They have their own hopes, dreams and goals, and learn best in community.

Thus our mission is to serve homeschooling families by offering high quality middle and high school courses, helping empower students to find their way and flourish in the broader world.

  • Yes! Here it is.

  • In July 2022, New Hope Courses, a organization that many of us had been involved with, closed operations for the 2022-23 school year. Wanting to continue our children’s homeschooling education, a group of us pivoted and arranged to meet at Gordon College. To plan for the future, we realized that we would need to form a new organization if we wanted to continue past that school year, so we incorporated in January 2023. Learn more here in our blog.

  • No. We are an educational 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to providing high-quality courses for homeschooling families. If you were to visit classes on a school day, you would find that it looks and feels like a small school environment — teachers and students, books on desks, problems worked on the whiteboard, homework assigned, etc. But we have a good deal of flexibility in how we approach our curriculum.

  • We meet on the campus of Gordon College in Wenham, MA. The full campus is available to us, including the library, bistro, the gorgeous grounds.

  • We strive to foster classrooms that are engaging, honest and fun. Students interact with great ideas, passionate teachers and other motivated peers and experience their own growth in a friendly environment.

Beyond the classroom, students form friendships and experience relationships of varying ages, from younger siblings to other parents and teachers.

Families also find support and thrive, as they share both struggles and reasons for homeschooling, as well as practical tips for a successful homeschooling experience.

  • Yes and no. In the new hybrid world of learning, we want to take advantage of virtual learning where appropriate. That would include times when students are sick: all of our classrooms are digitally equipped to accommodate remote students. Mixed classrooms — those with both in-person and remote learners — remain challenging and so we do not accept fully remote students at this time.

  • We do not require anyone to sign a statement of faith, and any homeschooling family who wishes to take a course with us is welcome.

Our Board members and teachers attend Protestant, Catholic and Orthodox churches in the area, and we do meet at Gordon College, so there is some religious influence. We aim to serve homeschooling families with Jesus of Nazareth as our model, and the atmosphere at Core is one of love and service.
